Our Journey

“We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in our hands to make a difference.”

- Nelson Mandela
iCMAD’s work started long before we became a 501(c)(3) in May 2023. The following is a glimpse of some of the initiatives that we have done in collaboration with various nonprofits and community members since 2009.

The 2023 Break Free Mother and Child Weekend Retreat was the much-needed respite that 19 families needed to connect, grow, and create lasting memories.

During the 2022 holiday season, in collaboration with Liberating Women, LLC and the help of volunteers and donors, we were able to provide 50 women (some mothers) who were living in a corrections/addiction treatment program, Millicent Fenwick House, Paterson, NJ with close to 1000 toiletry items.

The 2019 Mother and Child Weekend Retreat is a natural extension of the Break Free Conference. In collaboration with Fairview Lake YMCA Camps and other partners we were able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for mothers and their children to connect, grow, and create lasting memories.

Our annual Break Free conference was established in 2015 to provide a sanctuary for underrepresented women - many single parents, to connect, grow, and rejuvenate themselves. Starting 2018 it became an intergenerational conference as Bergen high school students participated.
